BYU App for Students

BYU App for New Students

BYU Office of Information and Technology developed an app that can make student life easier. It has a few features that are particularly helpful to new students. They can use it as a handy reference their first day, first few weeks, and throughout their time at BYU. We will explain some of the uses for the BYU app here and suggest when your student might find it especially useful.

Before they arrive or before classes start

My Classes – links to students’ current classes and a list where they can check the status of waitlisted classes.

My Booklist – links to a list of required texts for the classes they are registered for. Students can preorder the books through the BYU Store or buy them at other locations.

Job Openings – even before your student arrives at BYU, they can begin looking for and applying for jobs.

First Day of Class

My Next Class – tells where their next class is held and how long until it starts.

Map My Class – click on the class to see it's location on a map.

Restrooms – find a restroom for a quick pit-stop between classes.

Vending – find the closest vending machine, a favorite snack, or a microwave to warm up some food for lunch or dinner.

First Few Weeks

ID Card – use it to pay for food in the Cougareat (for a tax-free meal) or as identification in the testing center.

Cougarcash – check how much money is in their account or transfer funds.

Printers – find the nearest printer to print the paper due in 5 minutes or where to print an assignment between classes

Lab computers – where they are available and what type (Apple or Windows).

Testing Center – lines, hours, and their test scores.
