Get Informed

BYU International Study Programs (ISP) has been sending students abroad since the 1950s.  During the 1960s, our main program was housed in Salzburg, Austria.  Later, during the 1970s, the London Centre in the Kensington district of London was opened.  The flagship London Centre location has now received several generations of BYU students.  Throughout the years, ISP has developed many programs and locations and sent 1,921 students abroad during 2017.  ISP is regularly recognized as one of the top study abroad programs in the U.S., according to the Institute of International Education.

Get Involved

Students may select from over 150 different programs worldwide.  Program types include traditional study abroad led by a BYU professor, an independent internship in an international location, or direct enrollment at a university abroad.  Students will earn BYU academic credit that can count toward their major, minor, general education requirements, or electives.  BYU Scholarships and Federal Financial Aid can be used toward ISP tuition and program costs.  Please browse our website:, call us (801)-422-3686, or visit us in person at 101 HRCB.

Get Skills

Did you know that having international experience may open the door for your student in applying for a job or getting into graduate school?  Study abroad or an international internship is a conversation starter in a job interview.  Students learn valuable skills and discover characteristics in themselves while abroad.  Some of these skills and characteristics include language and communication skills, sensitivity to cultural diversity, flexibility, adaptability, independence, maturity, problem-solving skills, responsibility, self-reliance, inquisitiveness, assertiveness, motivation, and tolerance/open-mindedness.  Employers look for these skills.  An international program is part of a university education; it is an investment in the future.
