Deadlines - The application for Spring, Summer, and Fall 2020 opens on August 29, 2019. Freshman applicants that complete the application by the priority deadline of November 1 will receive extra consideration in the admission decision process, so don’t delay! Help your students get started on their applications beginning August 29th! The final deadline is December 16, 2019 and decisions will be released by February 17, 2020. View the full deadline schedule.
Age Restriction - Applicants must be at least 17 years old by the first day of class of the semester/term they are applying for. If they are younger than 17 they will be prompted to choose a later application date as they begin their application. (This applies to all applicant types except Concurrent Enrollment applicants.)
ACT/SAT - This year, your students will self-report their overall composite ACT or SAT score. If admitted, we will ask them to submit an official score for verification before they will be able to register for classes. This should make the application process a little simpler for your students.
High School Grades - Your students will also self-report high school work. Utah students with an SSID number can import their grades automatically from the state system. Our application accommodates various grading systems, but please make sure your students report their grades exactly as they appear on the transcript! Do not adjust grades from what appears on the transcript - if you have any questions about how to complete this portion of the application, feel free to contact us at 801-422-4104.
High School Teacher Recommendation - We will ask students for the email address of a high school teacher that taught them in a course that counted toward their English, math, or science graduation requirements. We recommend that they select a teacher that knows them well and can represent the work they have done.
Additional Recommendation - We will also ask students for the email address of someone else that can provide them a strong recommendation. This could be a second high school teacher, a coach, a church leader, an employer or anyone who knows them well, but it cannot be a family member.
Deferments - If they plan to serve as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints before attending BYU we recommend that they apply with their graduating high school class and then defer their admission.
